The
Medicare Payment Advisory Commission doesn't expect the
4.3 percent estimate for next year's physician payment cut
to change before the end of the year, MedPAC said in its
June report to Congress.
MedPAC
raised concerns that Medicare may be using outdated data
to allocate resource-based physician practice expense payments.
Also, MedPAC said that paying for so many physician services
individually based on small codes could encourage physicians
to boost volume, and it may make sense to pay for bundles
of services instead.
